Embryo Adoption

On a seemingly unrelated article, there is a new movement underway on embryo aodption. The article opens with a story on eight-month-old twins Savannah and Morgan Gillingham. Counting in Chinese, they are not eight months but five years and eight months. Eh?

Savanna and Morgan were previously frozen, leftovers from in-vitro fertilization. There are 400,000 such frozen embryos waiting, shelved and filed in hospitals and infertility clinics. About half will survive thawing, and of those only 12-15% will live. That's 25,000 to 35,000 potential babies. The movement is to bring together willing, infertile parents and these embryos so that they can be adopted. The organization is Snowflakes, founded by Rod Stoddart of Nightlight Christian Adoption.

So... ummm, what happens if they don't get adopted? Ahh, here's the connection. Guess who said this?

"I think if we can save millions of lives by doing research on something that may be destroyed anyway, that the balance is important."
Excuse me, something? It is sad enough that they are there to begin with. There are other ways to do stem cell research. There are alternatives.

We are taking the most helpless people on earth and killing them in the name of research.

Actually, that embryo adoption movement sounds like a good idea. But, the government and the mainstream (liberal) media will never endorse it, because it won't even endorse actual adoption as opposed to abortion. Good idea, but it's fighting a losing battle.

Cryogenics could be the solution to the abortion issue.

I am a professional writer in the Washington, D.C. area and for many years, I have advocated cryogenics as a viable alternative to abortion. As you well know, embryonic cryogenics has proven to be viable. It is a pro-life alternative that provides women with an ADDITIONAL choice.

I am interested in garnering support for this alternative and expanding the idea to include fetal cryogenics. I am well aware of the problems associated with thawing a fetus with our current technology but I am confidant that science will be able resolve those problems in the future.

Cryogenics is a win-win situation to which no pro-choice advocate could object. No woman would have to endure an unwanted pregnancy and no unborn children would be intentionally killed.

When I broached the subject with Dr. Griffin the former Deputy Director of Women’s Health Issues at NIH, she suggested that nether the pro-life nor pro-choice factions are interested in resolving the problem because they did not want to give up all the power they now have.

I am now reaching out in an effort to turn abortion into a non-issue. I would like to turn all the abortion clinics into baby banks.

I would like to hear your thoughts on the issue. I can be reached via e-mail maksnow@hmp.net.
